What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a natural healing technique based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part, gland, and organ of the body.
Stress and illness effect our body in many ways. Reflexology can help your body fight against illness and manage stress so the body is in an optimum state to generate well being. Reflexologists work on the soles and sides of the feet, using specialised massage techniques. During the treatment the therapist will massage the feet whist applying a deeper massage to certain parts of the feet, depending on your medical history and current needs. It is a wonderful sensation and not painful at all.

Are you trying to conceive? Already pregnant? Need to be induced? Feeling stressed?
Why is it that when you are trying to conceive, everyone around you seems to be getting pregnant at the drop of a hat. There you are every month with your expensive ovulation sticks, but to no avail. Well maybe your body is not responding as it should because it needs a bit of fine tuning. This is where reflexology can help you.
Reflexology is based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, tops, and sides of the feet are connected to corresponding areas throughout the body. In this way the feet can be seen as a ‘map’ of the body. Reflexologists use their hands to gently manipulate specific areas of the soles of the feet, to stimulate the corresponding organ or system in the body, helping the body maintain an optimum balance.
Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy. With couples who are experiencing problems with conception, in many cases it is due to an imbalance of hormones. Hormones are chemicals which cause certain changes in particular parts of the body. However if the level of reproductive hormones are too high or too low, then the body is unable to conceive. This is where reflexology can help. The therapist would pay particular attention to the endocrine system (hormones and glands) thus helping to encourage the natural flow of hormones through the body, whilst clearing any blockages.
During pregnancy, reflexology is a safe relaxation therapy, supporting the body through its constant change, dispersing tension and stress. Helping to balance the continual fluctuation of hormonal changes.
When the long awaited due date arrives, reflexology can encourage the body to go into labour (the hormone that the body needs to release is called Oxytocin). Labour can not start until this hormone is released by the pituitary gland. The therapist would focus a reflexology treatment on the pituitary gland, uterus and the hypothalamus (the ‘Master’ gland in control of all of the body’s hormones). The can encourage the body to go into labour naturally.
An experienced reflexologist will be able to feel, whilst massaging the feet, the state of health of the patient. However, it is not their place to diagnose an illness. Reflexology is ideal to help patients suffering with most ailments including anxiety, headaches, migraines, IBS, constipation, asthma, sinuses, back pain, blood pressure and insomnia. Those in great health often use reflexology as a great boost to their immune system to keep the body ticking over nicely.
Taking an hour just for you provides countless benefits for your health and vitality. Reflexology is suitable for male and females of any age.
